Shame on Notre Dame

Notre Dame University has committed an indefensible crime against the unborn by inviting Obama to speak at their commencement this year and by giving him an honorary degree. Obama is the most ardently pro-abortion politician I have ever seen. He is an accomplice to pre-meditated murder, and this supposedly pro-life university is bestowing honors upon him.

The university tried to defend its actions in a number of nonsensical ways. They said they don't want to ban dialogue and want to encourage discourse. First, there should be no discourse on abortion. It is murder. Would they encourage discourse on exterminating Jews, on enslaving black people, or on slitting the throats of children? Hardly. Yet, they want to encourage discourse on the slaughter of the innocent unborn. Such hypocrisy is damnable.

And having Obama come to speak is not discourse. He lectured the students. He did not debate with them. And when some people tried to offer their opinions outside the commencement, they were arrested and put in jail. So much for discourse.

Notre Dame, you're not fooling anyone. You invited this evil usurper for fame and publicity, and you have sold your collective souls to the devil. May God help you to repent of this wickedness.

  1. You're right. About Christians and sinlessness, I mean.
I've had this whole thing on my mind almost non-stop since first seeing it in your earlier blog posts, and after you answered some of my questions I started reading the entire New Testament after Acts to find out what was said about Christians and sin. Approaching the issue from a purely Scriptural standpoint, I couldn't find a thing to disprove your interpretation of 1 John 5:18 at all. Instead, everything comfirmed it. The only thing I couldn't get figured out was 1 John 1:8, even after you said John was providing a gospel message to the unsaved. I was trying to decide which meaning the verse had - Christians who claim sinlessness are deceived, or unbelievers who claim to be sinless are deceived.
Last night before bed I was reading through 1 John again, and praying for God to give me enough wisdom to understand it. This morning I re-read chapter one, and it was like it hit me for the first time, and I could clearly see how John was delivering a gospel message and not at all talking about believers. Wow!
It means so much to know for sure that I'm not doomed to fail the One I love over anything and everything...

  2. Gwendolyn, I am thrilled. What's so wonderful about this is that you wrestled with it on your own, and you didn't just take my word for it. That demonstrates wisdom and intellectual integrity.

You are now embarking on a journey without chains. Don't look back. People will likely try to dissuade you, accuse you of sin, or otherwise try to persecute you, but you can hang on to what you have learned.

It's all about God, loving Him, surrendering to His lordship, and sacrificing all to Him. How can we do otherwise? If we love Him will all our hearts, we will obey, not because of legal requirement, but rather because love overflows in our hearts.

I hope I can encourage you in this. It's not a problem to correspond by blog comments, but it might be too public if you have personal questions. You are always free to email me.

  3. I agree with you, Mr. Davis. Its quite sad that a pro-life college Norte Dame allowed Pres. Obama to speak there. And you are also correct that all he did was lecture them on how to go about our different views without fighting about, making mention to the protestors. very sad indeed.

    p.s.
Im sure your conversation with Gwendolyn is personal between the two of you, but i was wondering what you both meant by the passage in 1 john. Is it in one of your previous blog posts, or was it something you gave personally to Gwendolyn? if it is the latter, can you write a blog post about it? i would really like to know what you mean by it.

    Thank you very much!

  4. Tyler, thank you for your comments.

Gwendolyn was referring to a blog post about 1 John 1:8. Most people in the church say that it means Christians cannot say that they have stopped sinning. I posted a differing view, and now Gwendolyn agrees with me.

Here is the URL for that post: http://oraclesoffire.blogspot.com/2009/02/cleansed-from-all-sin.html

  5. Really, with that kind of hypocrisy Notre Dame shouldn't be alowed to continue to call itself a Catholic school.
